How Much Does a Custom Leather Bag Sample Cost?

When developing a custom leather bag, buyers often ask how much a sample will cost.
There is no single fixed sample price because the cost depends on the design and development work required.
For a relatively simple bag based on an existing structure, the sample cost may mainly cover leather, hardware, labor and shipping.
For a completely new design, additional costs may include:
Pattern development
Custom logo mold or tooling
Special hardware
New color or material sourcing
Complex construction or repeated sample adjustments
In many cases, sample costs are higher than the bulk unit price because only one or two pieces are produced, while the same development and setup work is still required.
At HSL, sample charges are confirmed after we review the design, material, size, logo and construction details.
For some projects, part of the sample charge may be credited back after a bulk order is confirmed. For more complex development projects, the development fee may be non-refundable.
