MOQ for Custom Leather Bags: What Buyers Should Know
Learn about MOQ for custom leather bags, including how quantity, color, leather and hardware affect production. HSL supports OEM, ODM and private label leather bag manufacturing.
When developing custom leather bags, one of the first questions buyers usually ask is: What is the MOQ?
MOQ means Minimum Order Quantity. For leather bags, the MOQ depends on several factors, including leather type, color, hardware, logo, packaging, and production method.
For most custom leather handbag projects, our typical MOQ is:
50 pcs per color per style
Why is MOQ necessary? Because genuine leather production involves material preparation, cutting, hardware sourcing, logo setup, stitching, edge painting, and finishing. Very small quantities can make production costs much higher.
The number of colors also matters. For example, producing 100 pcs in one color is usually easier and more cost-effective than producing 100 pcs in four different colors.
In our experience, splitting one order into too many colors often increases production complexity more than buyers expect. For a first order, fewer colors usually make sampling, material preparation and bulk production more efficient.

For new designs, we normally recommend making a sample first. After the sample is approved, bulk production can begin.
At HSL, we support OEM, ODM and Private Label leather bag production for brands, wholesalers and retailers.
